Banff - Day 1

We arrived!
It may not seem like a big deal, driving for one hour down the road from Calgary to Banff, but the work leading up to the that drive was pretty major.

For the three Calgary artists plus one who flew in from Winnipeg, it took four cars and two husbands to transport all the supplies and cart it (1) into our 'cabin in the woods' the Gerin-Lajoie studio where most of our stitching work will take place; (2) the residential building; and (3) separating supplies for the dyeing and printing studios that we will be using for 2 of our 5 weeks.

Once our cheap labourers left we rearranged the G-L studios configuring how to lay out 2-eight foot tables for each of the 5 artists who are there for the first 2 weeks (another arrives Monday.) All of this rearranging of space took a goodly amount of time, and by the time we ate dinner and chatted we were lucky to get back to our rooms by 11pm.

We would stand in the studio looking around saying "this will be our home for the next month" but I still don't think it has sunk in!

Here are photos of the packed car; the carting supplies through the woods; and the before and after of the studio.
