Moorea 5

My goal is to be on the beach to watch the sun set into the Pacific Ocean each night. So far, so good. Although some have been off the ferry travelling from a day in Tahiti back to our base in Moorea.

We had cloudy nights when we first arrived (good for a slow introduction in the daylight hours for our tender northern hides for the first couple of days) but you need some clouds around to give the sunset more contrast - see what I mean here...

Flowers in the gardens...

As I said the Intercontinental Hotel is on a 27 acres site filled with gardens. It seems like every plant has a blossom or a fruit on it. Here is a selection...

Moorea 3

Love the fact that we are again in a French influenced country...

(Every other year our holidays have taken us to French Riviera, Guadalupe, Paris, Provence - in between the other spots we explored.)

We are again immersed in the baguette, pain au chocolate, croissants, wines, butter imported from France; plus of the other tourists here over 90% are from France, which means the percentage of smokers is also higher! Ah well, the sacrifices we make.

But they do make their own beer here (with help from Heiniken.) Dave said it was good.

And there is a fruit juice factory here so plenty of that too! Above, what's left of my pineapple juice.

NOTE: I am posting with my iPad and having problems with pictures and scrolling. These posts are going to be short and sweet!

Moorea 2

First days just acclimatizing and learning the layout of the land.

The resort is on 27 acres of lush gardens with lots of trails to explore. Beach front with reefs for snorkelling.

Off on a trip of a lifetime...

Just flew off to the South Pacific... Calgary through Los Angeles onto Papeete, Tahiti. But continued our flight and ended up next door in Moorea. Dave has had Moorea on his radar for a long time and we finally decided to head out this year - for lots of reason. It is midway between my 55th birthday and his 60th; and our 31st anniversary this month while we are away.

We got lei'd at the airport on arrival (at 5am!) and a civilized check in at the hotel with fresh pineapple juice.

But our luggage never did show up. We were late getting out of Calgary because of a snow storm and the turnaround time in Los Angeles was tight so we spent the first 36 hours in the same clothes in this lovely warm weather.
